Port specification
Port's annual turnover is 24 M tons. There are 31 berths, having depths of up to 13.5 m in the port. The length of berth front totals 6 km. Four railway access lines to the port and berths equipped with railway tracks (up to 10 lines) enable up to 1,000 wagons to be handled a day. Port offers specialized facilities for handling heavy lifts (max 300 t) cargoes.
The port features specialized cargo facilities:
- Container terminal (Berths Nos 5 and 6) The terminal is located on the berths 5 and 6. Enable to transfer of 150,000 containers a year. Gross rate of ships handling totals 300 TEU per ship per day. Three storage areas can keep up to 7,500 TEU.
- Ore handling complex (Berth No 10) Vessels are discharged by gantry (rate is 6,000 t of ore a day) and onboard cranes, equipped with grad-ers, with further transferring by conveyor lines into the storehouse (capacity is up to 90,000 t). Complex turnover is 2 M t of cargo a year.
- Liquid edible cargo handling complex (Berth No 11)
- Grain handling complex (Berths Nos 16 and 17)
- Fertilizers handling complex (Berths Nos 19, 20) Highly mechanized complex with closed unloading, transferring and storage system is equipped with two sheltered stations for discharging of r/w cars. Complex turnover is 3 M t of mineral fertilizers a year. Ca-pacity of sheltered warehouses is 60,000 t. Up to 100 wagons are discharged daily; gross handling rate is 5,500 t per ship a day. Cargo transferred to warehouses or ship's holds by the system of stationary and mobile conveyors.
- Multimodal complex (Berths Nos 26, 27, 28) Special Multimodal complex is one of the port most worth-wile terminals, railway and ferry lines, linking Ukraine and Bulgaria (port Varna), Georgia (port Poti and Batumi), Turkey (Cerince) pass via the com-plex. Turnover of the complex: operation with r/w cars - 4.5 M t of cargo a year; operation with containers and motor vehicles - over 300,000 t of cargo a year. Maximum time of rail ferry handling totals 18 hours, ferry departure from Ukraine - once a week. There are 5 ferryboats operating (108 r/w cars or heavy trucks each). There is a container and motor vehicles area for 450 TEUs and 30 motor vehicle trains, equipped with two r/w locomotives to handle platforms loaded with containers and motor vehicles.
- Liquefied gas handling complex (Berths Nos 29, 30, 31) Pier of 370 m in length enables 2 gas carriers of 10,000 t capacity and 12 m draft each to be handled si-multaneously. Loading rate is 250 t per hour. Project complex output totals 1.2 M t of liquefied gas a year.
