Pier 30/31 oversized vessels

Frequently there is a necessity to accept Panamax - size vessel for load alongside pier 31. Characteristics of such vessels considerably exceed specified in the Harbor Master restriction table . The preliminary obligatory coordination of reception such a vessel prior arrival with Harbor Master office and Stevedores Company "Brooklyn-Kiev" in this case is necessary. Agents should make such coordination on basis of additional vessel's description. Following questionnaire should fill up (distances in meters) by Master or Shipowner:

1) Length over all and between perpendiculars, Breadth, Depth;
2) Number of cargo holds and type of hatches covers;
3) Presence of cranes (derricks) on Main deck between holds;
4) Estimated ballast conditions and drafts on arrival to pier 31:
4.1. Ballast quantity, t
4.2. Drafts on arrival fore and aft.
4.3. Drafts on departure fore and aft.
5) Vessel pier 31 alongside estimated vertical distances from water level to each hold's coaming (or open hatch - what's higher);
Above data needed to be Stevedores sure to put into the Hold No 2 or 3 the first loading pipe (see photo). Subject distance should be not over 12,00 m.
6) Distances between ( shown on the drawing ):

A) Bulb' fore edge and fore perpendicular;
B) Fore and fore transverse coaming of Hold No 1;
C) Fore transverse coamings of first hold and aft transverse coamings of last hold - vessel's 'working area';
D) Aft and the last cargo hold's transverse coaming;

After checking all dimensions, Stevedores give to Harbor Master conclusion about possibility of mooring and load such vessel. Harbor Master takes the final decision and informs the Agent.

In connection with that the vessel's "working zone" and physical restriction of vessel's depth alongside pier 31 do not allow completely to load the vessel by the declared quantity of cargo, the Stevedore company offers the following plan of loading, which should be coordinated with ship's administration.

A. The vessel moored to pier 31 port side - as a rule, with flooded 4 hold, that allows to meet the requirement about restriction of coaming height. The loading started with the second and third holds. In process of fore holds loading vessel's different decrease and draft increase up to depths limitation, therefore vessel move astern.
B. Vessel shifted (Pilot & tugs are compulsory) to pier 32 and moor starboard for completion loading of aft holds. Pier 32 is more deep-water and long, than 31. The loading is realized by special cargo containers, which rise above hold by shore cranes and throw the cargo into hold. Loading rate pier 32 alongside - not less than 3,000 tons per day.
